As promised, here's a link to my interview with Rich Tupica, author of the outstanding Chris Bell bio, There Was A Light, for the Please Kill Me blog. As I noted earlier, this is really a must-have book if you're a Big Star fan. Check out the interview and then order the book from the publisher (HoZac) or Amazon.

My Big Star mania began in 1992 when the Rykodisc reissues came out; currently, I'm deep in the midst of another Big Star/Chris Bell kick after some years away. In the past two months I've read the Jovanovic book, Holly George-Warren's book on Chilton, and today I finished the Tupica book on Bell. As I finished up that one I learned about your 33 1/3 entry and I started it tonight. Looking forward to getting deeper into it.
Hey Bruce...Sam here. Sorry to hear about your health issues. Hope things are looking up for you. Loved the interview and it has inspired me to buy Rich's book.
I recently discovered a tape of a little jam session that you played and sang on when you visited Boston sometime in 1981/82. Also on this is our dear mutual friend Bill Poczik, Dan Ireton AKA Dredd Foole(who has released several records) and my old friend and music conspirator Rich Mirsky, who is still active in the Boston music scene. It's appropriately shambolic but it brought a smile to my face so thought you might have a little interest.
Glad to have found your blog and will be following it.
All the best,
Sam

Hi there - left a big comment on the Big Star comment page.
I too saw Bruce in 1974 - in Burlington Vermont - with the whole band. Violin player too!
